Do the benefits of Accutane outweigh the Side Effects?

I've had terrible acne since middle school (I'm in college now) and I have a lot of blackheads on my cheeks and nose and I feel really self-conscious and awkward about it when I'm in public. I try to turn my head so people don't stare at my deformed face. I've tried creams and antibiotic pills, which didn't really help. My dermatologist prescribed Accutane. I've read tons of reviews on it. For some people it cleared up their acne and kept it clear and they had no major side effects. For others, it made them have a lot of diseases and problems in life. I don't know whether I should take it or not. Help me!
