Is my Dad an Alcoholic or Alcohol Dependant?

I thought these two were the same thing....I don't think you can get your dad to change,he'll do what he wants to do.And it's hard to give up drinking if it's not really interfeering with day to day life much.It's not healthy to drink this much though,you're right about that,it's bad for the liver.I don't think there's a whole lot you can do here except for accepting him the way he is,especially if your mom is ok with it.Some people actually drink their whole life like this and they're fine...Or maybe he's dependent on the people he drinks with at the pub? maybe if the had some other place to hang out and socialize with his buddies he wouldn't even need to drink.But who knows.
