My babyliss pro 230 straigtener broke ?

i've had my babyliss straightener for nearly a year now ,the other day i plugged it in and tried turning it on the light didnt turn on and it didnt heat up ,i put in a new fuse and it still didnt work.i looked at the box and it said 5 year guarantee but there was no leaflets or anything and no receipt,can i still get it fixed ? also i got it as a gift so i have no reciept.
