General opinions: Does it work out having BEST friends that are of the opposite ?

I'm a girl and I find that some of my best friends are guys. I have more girl friends than guy friends, but I find that I actually share more with the guys and share more readily than with my girlfriends. I think it has to do with having a sounding board that can view things from a different perspective than me because of his gender. Sometimes i feel with my girlfriends that if i share anything, they'll give me the same cookie cutter responses that i would give and do give to them when they share with me. But guys are different, and they also tend to be more painfully honest, which is really what us girls need. With several of my guy friends, there was at least some level of attraction at the beginning that was not equally reciprocated by one or the other, but in my experience these relationships will either grow into dating or settle back comfortably into the style of best friend relationships.
